Il Blu 2020 Brancaia

Produced only from the finest hand-picked and selected grapes from our two estates in Chianti, with the finest tannins and a smooth, full finish, IL BLU stands out for its complexity and elegance. Today, thanks to the ever-improving complexity of our Merlot grapes, particularly from our Radda in Chianti vineyards, it is a blend of 80% Merlot and 10% each of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. Each individual variety is aged separately in barriques, two-thirds new, for 18 months. Then, once assembled, the final blend ages in unglazed concrete tanks for 3 months. This makes the wine more balanced, with tannins and aromas better integrated even before a year of aging in the bottle. We continue to work constantly to improve this wine, while taking great care to preserve its identity.

Blend: 80% Merlot and 10% each of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon

Region: Tuscany / Radda in Chianti / Super Tuscan

Vinification: Hand-picked and alcoholic fermentation for 12 days in stainless steel tanks.

Aging: 18 months, 2/3 in new French oak barrels, 1/3 in second-passage French oak barrels, additional 3 months in concrete tanks.

Serving temperature: 16-18°

Pairings: Intensely flavored dishes, game, roasted or stewed red meats.
